How to think like a Type A person
We want to have the mindset of type A, because they are known to have time-management and organizational skills. Every business looks to hire people that are motivated and hard-working. We trust the friends who are on top of things, do not waste time, and a bit controlling. In stressful situations we feel competitiveness, that strives you to do better, by thinking type A.
One of the biggest issues we lack is confidence, that's due to the world we live in now. Confidence drives all the traits under type A personality. Knowing you can accomplish something, is your confidence boosting your focus and energy. When we have a new idea, we are vulnerable to the fact that it can be shut down. This is where putting type A can come into good use, because you are feeling confident and driven to speak up.
Let's say you were asked to do a favor from a friend or co-worker, what are the first things that come to mind? Type B personalitites may think okay, I'll figure it out when the time comes and I will get it done. Type A personalities are thinking, my calendar is open, I am going to write it down and ask questions like what, why, where and how will I approach this. Knowing what is important is crucial for changing our perspectives to this way of thinking.
That sense of urgency comes into to play when you want to be trusted and get the job done right. It is about how you approach situations and act on them with ambition. Having this head space, causes you to focus on your work and goals for the future. At the end of the day we all want to be hardworking, energetic and focused humans. This does not come naturally to some people, some may have to work harder at this than others.
Comparing Type A and Type B traits
There are parts to type A everyone does not find good, such as being controlling, easily irritated, and aggressive. It comes with the territory, it is important to catch ourselves in these moods. When we are more aware of our actions, the better decision making we can do. Type B personalities are more patient, flexible, and relaxed, which everyone needs to do when they find themselves in stressful situations.
To approach a mindset that you want, you will have to think about the different perspectives. Next time you are in a situation where there's a lot of work to do, think the good and bad qualities of both sides. The motivation and drive comes from a type A person and the calmness and less stress comes from the type B.
In closing, we all need self control, motivation, and multitasking skills. With a side of slower paced, relaxation, and patience skills. To manage stress we exercise, meditative, and eat a good diet. I hope this inclines you to take your next project with a perspective on how to "Think Type A".
